An exciting opportunity has arisen at Velindre Cancer Centre for a part-time radiology secretary to join our friendly team in the Radiology Department. The Centre provides world-renowned cancer services to the population of South East Wales.
We are looking for an experienced individual to provide a full administrative and comprehensive secretarial service to the radiology consultants and wider radiology team, which includes but is not limited to diary management, meeting organisation, transcription of clinical documentation, and support for the efficient day-to-day running of the department. Knowledge of medical terminology is essential.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work closely with our Radiographers, Radiologists, and other clerical staff in the provision of general clerical, administrative, and secretarial duties.
Knowledge of a full range of administrative policies and procedures, advanced use of various IT packages, and non-routine problem solving associated with patient appointments and associated treatment schedules is essential.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Collate MDT lists for consultants.
Assign MRI requests for reporting ensuring reports are available for patients' clinic appointments.
Liaise with senior staff on allocation of MRI/CT to consultant worklists.
Check all requests have been allocated and are on consultant worklists.
Ensure radiology reports are available to view for required clinic dates.
Annotate and check consultants' reports, escalating significant medical findings in reports to relevant clinicians.
Annotate RT Planning scan visits onto Radiology Informatics System (RadIS).
Annotate Nuclear Medicine non-imaging studies onto RadIS.
Ensure Teams/Bed Manager informed of significant findings and log details in patients' records.
Collate DVT/PE data and forward to Pharmacy (monthly).
Manage Oracle ordering for the radiology department and receipt goods for payment.
Person Specification
Knowledge
* NVQ Level 4 Medical Secretary or equivalent work experience within a similar role.
* Knowledge of medical terminology.
* Knowledge of hospital computer systems (eg WCP/Oracle).
* Excel qualifications or equivalent evidence of continuous development.
* Knowledge of RadIS/PACS systems.
Experience
* Experience of working within an NHS environment.
* Knowledge of Data protection / confidentiality.
* Previous medical secretarial experience.
* Experience of working in a Radiology department.
* Excellent computer software knowledge - Excel/Word/Sharepoint.
Skills
* Minute taking skills.
* Advanced keyboard skills to produce reports and correspondence.
* Planning and organisational skills.
