Job Description We have a fantastic opportunity based out of our Ampthill, Bedfordshire offices to allow you to work within a CNC precision machine shop environment as a skilled CNC Miller and Turner. Milling is an essential skillset, turning would be very desirable. You will be involved in machine and fixture setting, tool selection and tool set up, setting work and tool offsets, proving out and editing of CNC programs, machining of products in high grade aluminium, peak, titanium and composite carbon fibre materials on multiple machine tools including 4 and 5 axis machining centres with various programming languages to include Heidenhain, Siemens and Fanuc to produce medium size R&D and low volume production component parts all of high value. Duties will include: Support and input to the development of machining processes and tooling/fixture design. Ability of tool selection/optimisation and design liaising with tooling suppliers. Mentoring and training of others which may include apprentices. Working to specifications, procedures and engineering drawings. Develop and improve work procedures/processes with engineering team. Problem solve machine issues and facilitate corrective action plans. Ability to prioritise work load in order to meet deliverable commitments and support production schedule to optimise machine utilisation. Ability to work from detailed engineering drawings producing conforming product. Strong Milling experience essential. Turning experience very desirable. Ability to program/post process using Fanuc & Heidenhain languages. Understanding and execution of CAD/CAM software. Conversant with multi-axis machining methods (3 to 5 axis). Good knowledge of inspection techniques and measuring equipment. General engineering workshop practices and proven Manufacturing experience. Ability to work from written and verbal process instructions. Ability to work independently from concept through to manufacture. Adherence and accountability of Housekeeping and 6S standards within defined work area. Adherence to mechanical and manual Lifting processes. High level of CoSHH and H&S awareness. Competent computer skills including MS-office, MRP systems. Good communication and reporting skills. SC clearance with possibility for DV.
