Job Title: Electrical Maintenance Engineer (Shifts) Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire, United Kingdom Salary: £45k-£48k Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off, 12-hour shifts (6-6) two days/two nights Job Overview: We are looking for a motivated and skilled Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join our dynamic team at S.M.A.C.C., Long Products, in Sheffield. This is a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of electrical, electronic, and process control systems across our plant. You will work within a challenging and fast-paced environment, providing critical first-line maintenance and supporting a wide range of electrical activities, all while adhering to strict health, safety, and environmental guidelines. Key Responsibilities: Electrical Maintenance: Be accountable for all electrical, electronic, and process control work on the plant, including both planned and breakdown maintenance. Problem Solving: Provide first-line maintenance expertise to resolve electrical issues safely and effectively across the site. Compliance & Safety: Manage shift electrical engineering activities, ensuring compliance with internal and external safety protocols, including Permit to Work, High Voltage Safety Rules (EIS5), and Isolation/Immobilisation procedures. Installation Work: Carry out electrical installation work in accordance with BS7671 Wiring Regulations 18th Edition. Team Leadership: Lead and coach electrical apprentices and other team members, contributing to their development and growth. Continuous Improvement: Support and contribute to ongoing improvement activities and assist in the planning of shift activities requiring electrical expertise. Reporting & Analysis: Maintain accurate records in SAP and assist in completing Single Event Analysis (SEA) for plant breakdowns, implementing corrective actions where necessary. Collaboration: Work on or support work on mechanical systems and collaborate across the team to drive operational efficiency. Person Specification: The ideal candidate will: Hold an HNC qualification or have proven electrical experience in a large-scale industrial environment, preferably within a steelmaking setting. Demonstrate a high level of practical Mechanical/Electrical hands-on skills. Have a strong awareness of working within a melting shop environment. Be an effective leader and coach, with the ability to guide and develop junior staff and apprentices. Possess a solid understanding of continuous improvement programs and planned maintenance activities. Be a strong communicator, both verbal and written, with excellent planning and problem-solving skills. Be committed to upholding high health, safety, and environmental standards.
