The Company
My client is a successful, dynamic, and growing contracting business that works in Civil Engineering, Structures & Highways. They are currently growing year on year in the UK and have a healthy turnover. As a result of increased workload, they are looking to hire a Contract Manager to take on ECI and then project delivery responsibility across multiple smaller projects predominantly in areas 7 and 9 – Midlands.
The Role
The Contract Manager, reporting to the Highways Framework Manager, is the most senior member of the onsite operations team and is the key person responsible for the successful delivery of projects. The Contract Manager has the ultimate responsibility to ensure health, safety, environmental & quality compliance as well as programme and budget requirements. Project values typically range from £500k – £5m.
Responsibilities include:
1. Reporting to the Highways Framework Manager and coordinating a team of project managers and site managers.
2. Responsible for engineering deliverables throughout a project life cycle.
3. Compliance with statutory and framework/client specifications.
4. Acting as a main point of contact for the client.
5. Edit and understand drawings.
6. Coordinate ECI.
7. Input and update of designer’s risk assessments.
8. Work with the Project, Engineering & Operation teams to eliminate or reduce risk.
9. Ensure compliance with CDM regulations.
10. Ensure internal governance and processes are followed.
11. Engage in tender and supplier evaluations.
12. Participate in client initiatives and proactively promote health & safety performance.
13. Review subcontractor tenders and performance.
Training and career development opportunities
The Candidate
Proven technical and project management abilities, strong organisational and management skills, knowledge of the requirements and implementation of CDM regulations, ability to produce Work Package Plans, Task Briefing Sheets, and implement safe systems of work. Detailed knowledge of Safety, Quality and Environmental issues relevant to the project environment is required. Additionally, sufficient experience in construction, confidence in Client Communication, ECI Stage as well as delivery, and expertise in Structural Repair, Cathodic Protection principles & Concrete Waterproofing are essential. Knowledge of CDM Regulations & duties, and NEC Contracts is also necessary.
