About the role
The purpose of this role is to safeguard the well-being of all employees and stakeholders by proactively managing workplace health and safety risks. The advisor will guide the logistics teams in preventing accidents, ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety legislation, and promoting a culture of safety awareness.
Key Accountabilities
* To proactively assist with the development, implementation, monitoring, and review of all health & safety strategies, policies, standards, and procedures throughout the Halfords Group.
* To support and play an active role in delivering the Halfords Group Health & Safety Roadmap.
* To primarily undertake audits and workplace/area inspections (60% of role requirement) to proactively identify where health & safety management practices and overall standards can be improved.
* Provide written reports by the way of inspection, visible safety leadership (VSL), and monthly summaries where necessary to assist Halfords in implementing solutions to improve its overall health & safety performance.
* Build rapport and strengthen relationships across the Halfords Logistics and the wider group to both empower & promote colleagues to take ownership of health & safety.
* Continually challenge management and associated colleagues to stay focused on business-critical risks. Provide key expertise as a DGSA accredited advisor to support the commercial needs of the business.
Skills & Experience
* A proven track record with a minimum of 3 years’ experience within a health & safety advisor or coordinator position.
* Experience within a multi-site and business function role.
* Desirable - DGSA Certified (Training and opportunity to become DGSA certified will be provided and be essential to role within 6 months), NEBOSH Diploma or Safety Diploma / NVQ 6. NEBOSH Fire Certificate, NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
