Job Title: Connected Car Validation Engineer (914)

We are recruiting for a Connected Car Validation Engineer to join a globally recognised automotive company based in Cranfield. This long-term contract role offers an excellent opportunity to work on cutting-edge connected car technologies, contributing to innovative vehicle development.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support the Electrical & Electronic (EE) Test team in end-to-end system validation for connected car telematics systems, including both on-board and off-board environments.
2. Perform interoperability testing of connected systems for functionality, performance, and reliability, ensuring compliance with design standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
3. Create and implement test plans to meet project and design milestones.
4. Ensure vehicle-level quality, functionality, and reliability standards are maintained through system changes.
5. Investigate and troubleshoot complex vehicle concerns, including data logging and analysis.
6. Develop testing procedures, scenarios, and reports in line with vehicle development schedules.
7. Ensure all necessary test resources, including vehicle specifications and parts, are ready before testing.
8. Utilize industry-standard management systems such as JIRA and TestRail to categorise concerns and track issues to closure.
9. Provide technical support for software management in both the vehicle manufacturing plant and the test fleet.
10. Collaborate cross-functionally with quality, project management, and engineering teams to manage concerns.
11. Manage suppliers, technicians, and guest engineers as part of validation activities.
12. Report on test results and issue closures to upper management.
13. Support market investigations when required.
Qualifications & Experience:
1. Degree-qualified in a relevant discipline.
2. Experience in software programming and software quality assurance.
3. Familiarity with vehicle ECU software application in manufacturing, including flashing, coding/configuration, and calibration.
4. Understanding of regional regulations and global market requirements.
5. Skilled in software risk assessment and the development of appropriate test plans.
6. Experience validating multiple software versions and adapting validation activities as necessary.
7. Proficient in network communications and bus principles (CAN, LIN, Ethernet).
8. Ability to operate CANalyzer, CANoe, Matlab, or similar software for data capture and analysis.
9. Hands-on experience with off-board telematics systems (e.g., servers, network providers, commercial software applications).
10. Familiarity with digital oscilloscopes and basic electrical testing equipment.
11. Strong problem-solving skills, ideally with experience using tools such as Kepner Tregoe or Six Sigma.
Desirable:
1. Experience with network analysers and communication simulation tools.
2. Ability to interpret system circuit diagrams and identify electrical connections.
