About the business unit
Mott MacDonald’s Advisory and Programme Delivery (APD) unit delivers both project, programme & commercial management (PPCM) services and advisory solutions across various sectors.
APD delivers services to projects ranging in scale and complexity up to £20bn, through the technical disciplines of programme management, project management, project controls, scheduling, cost management, estimating, infrastructure finance, management consulting, digital consulting and education, health and care management.
Overview of role
Due to the expansion of our defence business, we have exciting opportunities for project management professionals to join our fast-growing team in the UK. This is a unique opportunity to be involved in some of the most complex and challenging projects in the UK today. We are looking to attract the finest talent to be part of this journey as we mobilise for a number of key opportunities across a broad portfolio of defence programmes within the infrastructure and equipment domains. All of the programmes are long-term opportunities allowing you to grow and develop your career throughout.
We are seeking a Senior Project Manager who demonstrates a passion to work collaboratively with our client teams to deliver their complex projects to time, cost and quality with a commitment to safety.
What will the role offer?
You will have opportunities to work on some of the UK’s largest Defence projects, working with key clients and with experts from across Mott MacDonald and the industry.
We are looking for talented individuals who can demonstrate the following:
1. Lead the safe and successful delivery of projects to agreed time, cost and quality parameters
2. Lead the development and delivery of business cases
3. Preparation and maintenance of schedules, including dependencies and resources
4. Identifying and monitoring project risks and opportunities
5. Ensure quality management processes for project activities and outputs
6. Manage senior stakeholder relationships
7. Lead project governance reviews
8. Provide leadership and direction across all commercial, procurement and general project control functions
9. Successful administration of the NEC suite of contracts (or similar)
10. Liaise with the projects health, safety and wellbeing representative
11. Contribute to the business growth of the organisation
Candidate Specification
1. Experience working on large defence infrastructure (or equipment) projects, or equivalent across other sectors
2. Significant project management expertise across a range of disciplines, contract/procurement routes and market sectors
3. Hold APM Chartered Project Professional status, or equivalent Chartership
4. Full membership of the APM
5. Hold NEC accreditation (3 or 4)
6. Line management or team leader experience
7. Operate with strong commercial acumen and knowledge of planning and project controls
8. Ability to operate both autonomously and as a part of a larger team
9. Excellent IT Skills – Word/Excel/PowerPoint
10. Expert communication skills including writing reports and presenting
11. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with clients, stakeholders, colleagues and the supply chain
12. Ability to demonstrate a flexible approach to work
