Essential Responsibilities:
Provide technical expertise on Environmental, health & Safety (EHS) issues, ensuring compliance on site safety matters. Machine safety and PUWER oversight ensuring compliance to regulations. GE EHS Management system element ownership and support - Key knowledge and support for EHS Framework functions. Conduct regular compliance inspections and track findings through to closure, providing feedback to employees. Provide direct internal support and leadership of EHS to the operations business. Develop and conduct training and educational programs to reinforce EHS awareness. Evaluate Management of Change Projects including concept design plans, associated processes, and equipment prior to their purchase / use at the facility. Management of safety risk assessment programme and development of PPE matrices. Ensuring compliance to Fire, Legionella, DSEAR and asbestos risk assessments. Undertake and lead accident investigations, ensuring cases are logged and corrective actions are managed. Responsible for radiation programme, point of contact with Radiation Protection Advisor. Liaison with Industrial Hygienist, ensuring compliance to workplan and assessments. Provide general oversight and act as Caledonian coordinator for Occupational Health Department. Implementation of core requirements specific to the hand arm vibration programme, ensuring monitoring, training is executed. Management of GE compliance calendar tasks, ensuring Regulatory tasks are assigned and completed in line with Global priorities and goals. Contactor control oversight, signing of risk assessments and method statements. Ensuring contractor activities are reviewed and compliant. Provide back-up coverage to EHS leader and deputising of roles and responsibilities.
Essential Requirements/Experience:
NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma for Occupation Health & Safety Management / Occupational, Health, Safety & Environmental Management BSc Occupational, Health, Safety & Environmental Management MSc/ Experience in an operational Health & Safety role. Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of Environmental and Health and Safety Legislation. Strong IT/ and data analysis skills. Desired Characteristics:
