The Band 5 Finance Officer will be responsible for assisting in the financial management and administration of the department, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and policies. The role will involve processing financial transactions, maintaining financial records, and providing support to senior finance staff in various financial tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
2. Process invoices, payments, and other financial transactions in accordance with established procedures.
3. Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and documentation.
4. Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports for management review.
5. Assist in the preparation of year-end accounts and audits.
6. Provide financial information and reports to support decision-making.
7. Ensure compliance with relevant financial policies, procedures, and regulations.
8. Support the implementation of financial controls and auditing processes.
9. Respond to queries from staff and external stakeholders regarding financial transactions and policies.
10. Provide support and guidance to budget holders on financial matters.
11. Collaborate with other finance team members to deliver effective financial services.
12. Participate in training and development activities to enhance personal and team skills.
Qualifications:
1. University or equivalent qualification in finance, accounting, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
2. Professional qualification in finance or accounting (e.g., AAT / HND, CCBA) is essential.
Skills and Experience:
1. Proven experience in a finance or accounting role, preferably within a public sector or healthcare environment.
2. Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
3. Proficient in using financial software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and manage multiple tasks effectively.
