Avondale Vets is seeking a Farm Clinical Director to lead our dedicated and enthusiastic farm team, based in the picturesque town of Strathaven, just 40 minutes from Glasgow.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a forward-thinking farm vet to shape and develop our farm services. You’ll take the lead in:
1. Managing your own farm caseload
2. Providing leadership and support to our farm team
3. Overseeing staff guidance, development, and appraisals across all departments
4. Driving financial performance alongside our other Clinical Directors
5. Ensuring practice policies and procedures are followed
We’re looking for a strong communicator with the leadership skills to inspire our team and maintain our reputation for excellent client care.
Our Practice
At Avondale, we’re proud of our rich history-our founding partner famously diagnosed and reported the first ever Left Displaced Abomasum (LDA)! Today, our dynamic team includes:
1. 2 Clinical Directors
2. 1 Practice Manager
3. 20 Vets
4. 7 RVNs, 3 SVNs & 9 Support Staff
Our farm team includes a vet with a DBR qualification, and our caseload covers large dairy clients, beef herds, sheep flocks, and smallholding work.
Rota & Support
1. Working 40 hours per week with a 1:4 rota with a day off in lieu following a weekend on-call
2. Additional payment for out-of-hours work
3. Strong support network with access to IVC’s wider team of farm vets
Life in Strathaven
Our practice is located in the charming market town of Strathaven, a Royal Burgh since 1450. The area offers a fantastic mix of history and modern living, with attractions like Strathaven Castle, the award-winning Strathaven Park, and a local golf club. We’re a team that values social connection, from participating in the annual Strathaven Raft Race to hosting informal get-togethers.
With excellent schools and Glasgow just a short drive away, Strathaven is an ideal place to settle and thrive.
