Senior Domestic Abuse Practitioner £27,367.23 a year Staffordshire Moorlands Hours per week 37.5 Contract type Permanent The role As a Senior Domestic Abuse Practitioner you’ll support adults and families living in our clients safe accommodation services. You’ll deliver focused and tailored one-to-one support to help them live a life free from abuse. Job requirements Work with customers to identify their individual support needs. Provide a tailored support package and deliver practical, emotional and advocacy support. Support customers to make sure they understand their rights and responsibilities within the accommodation when they move in. Support customers to engage with internal and external agencies to access services, develop their skills and achieve their goals. Work as part of a multi-agency response to meet the identified needs of customers. This might include providing reports for, or attending, meetings such as MARAC and CYP conferences. Advocate for customers to make sure agencies understand and meet their needs. Work as part of a team to set up and manage safe accommodation in the community, which is an extension of refuge. Manage staff and provide support as a line manager. Help customers transition from safe accommodation to managing their own tenancy, offering group or 1:1 support. Participate in relevant training to share best practices with colleagues and professionals. What they’re looking for A good level of education such as GCSE English and maths, or equivalent. Experience delivering support to customers, recognising their individual needs, making sure they have access to opportunities, all while meeting set deadlines. Experience supporting adults with complex needs such as relationship abuse and mental health. Experience of supporting a team, completing appraisals and check-ins. Knowledge of housing and health and safety requirements in a safe accommodation setting. An understanding of domestic abuse, including the impact on those affected by it and the legal and practical remedies available to them. The ability to work well under pressure and in complex situations. Good written and verbal communication skills. A full UK driving licence and use of your own vehicle for work. DBS check.
