Facilities: Our client is a busy, first-opinion small animal practice, that also works closely with Cats Protection Leeds, with set operating days dedicated to their charity work. Both practices have a designated operating theatre and prep area, with separate cat and dog wards. One of the practices has digital dental x-ray and excellent dental capabilities. They have a variety of equipment, including digital X-ray, ultrasonography at both practices, bronchoscopy, laparoscopy, in-house laboratory, and laser. They also have capabilities for in-house orthopaedics, including MMP, and echocardiograms/ECG.
Team: They are a stable team of 9 vets, two of which hold surgery certificates, and two others working toward their CertAVP. They have 9 RVNs with a variety of further qualifications including nutrition and surgery, and 2 student nurses. Many of the staff have been with the practice since qualifying, their practice manager and head nurse have both worked for the practice for over 40 years! Their Clinical Director was a new graduate at the practice, and they still have their 2016 New graduate vets working for them.
Role: Our client is looking for an experienced vet surgeon to cover a 12-month fixed-term contract. Ideally confident in both consults and routine surgeries as well as dentistry and some sole charge work when working Saturday shifts.
Hours: Working up to 40 hours per week across 4 days consisting of 10-hour days, with an hour for lunch and working 1:4 Saturdays. They would also consider a part-time applicant and can consider flexible working hours.
Duties: They aim to rota vets to have 2 days where they have ops time, and 2 consulting days. They aim to provide adequate admin time between consulting blocks. Most of their vets work between both branches, but this can be discussed.
Salary: Competitive salary of up to £65,000 p/a (DOE)
