Job overview
We are looking for somebody who can multitask and work in a highly pressured environment and remain calm in an emergency, with good communication skills. CEPOD Theatre is our emergency theatre which covers all specialities. You will be required to work 3 x 12.5-hour shifts. You need to be a team player and contribute to the safe and efficient running of the Operations at Main Theatres. This is a rewarding role. Main duties of the job
1. Responsible for the assessment of care needs, planning, delivering, and evaluating a high standard of nursing care.
2. Contributing to the safe and efficient running of the operating theatre department, through the acceptance of agreed additional responsibilities.
3. An accomplished communicator able to contribute, implement and evaluate clinical and professional standards.
4. Initiating and developing evidence-based practice ensuring all staff are aware of current issues and changes.
5. Ensuring the administration and documentation of drugs is in accordance with Trust policy.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. Ensure Trust policies and guidelines for correct ordering, storage and use of all drugs are adhered to.
2. Ensure that Trust policies and guidelines for correct clinical practices are followed.
3. Be aware of Risk Management and Clinical Governance and the implications this has on clinical practice.
4. Ensure the theatre staff and multidisciplinary team are aware of policies and procedures relating to Fire, Health & Safety, COSHH and Infection control.
5. Report to Team Leader and or Theatre Manager any accidents, untoward incidents and complaints as soon as possible to include completion of the relevant documentation and dispatched to the appropriate department.

Education and qualifications
* First level registration with the NMC.
* ODP registration
* Post-registration education programme related to speciality
* Evidence of professional development.
* Working towards a degree ILS/ALS.
Knowledge
* Up to date knowledge of relevant political and professional issues in health care.
* Understanding of principles of budget management
* Knowledge of developing care pathways.
Experience
* Teaching and facilitating experience
* Commitment to clinical effectiveness and evidence-based care.
* Experience as a Band 5.
* Knowledge of Clinical Governance & Benchmarking.
