Step Resourcing are looking for an Experienced Estimator to join a clients team, as new position being added to their team

We are looking for an experienced Estimator from a construction-based background; in particular with knowledge of specialist works such as diamond drilling, diamond sawing, wire sawing, Brokk demolition and similar.
This opportunity will suit an astute, commercially aware and driven individual, with a passion for the sector and a desire to win projects. They must be confident and personable and, importantly, a strong team player.
This job is based from our offices in Whitstable, Kent but site visits would form a significant part of the role.
Job Description/ Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
* Taking initial project enquiries and exploring the client’s exact needs in detail; making site visits where necessary.
* Researching the materials, equipment and labour required to fulfil each project.
* Generating enquiries, obtaining and comparing quotes from appropriate, company approved suppliers.
* Assessing project associated risks through careful research.
* Improving efficiency, clarity, and accuracy while reducing overall costs.
* Preparing and submitting competitive quotations and securing pre-bid agreements for work.
* Collating detailed price lists and bills of quantities of everything needed on each project, this includes calculating and presenting the cost of people, plant, materials, transport, labour, and equipment hire to help inform the tender bid submission.
* Provide progress reports on all bid and tender opportunities.
* Monitoring the stages of a project to make sure that costs are kept in line with forecasts.
* Liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
* Maintaining relationships with existing customers through conversations, events and meetings on and off-site.
Requirements:
* A third level qualification in a related discipline, i.e. Engineering/ Construction/ Quantity Surveying OR a minimum of 2-3 years’ in a similar role.
* A good knowledge of diamond drilling, diamond sawing and similar specialist works.
* Excellent communication and influencing/ negotiating skills, both written and verbal.
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Outlook and Word.
* Full, valid UK driving licence with the willingness and flexibility to travel to sites across the UK at short notice.
