The role:
We are seeking a skilled Technical Manager to join a dynamic and innovative team working on large-scale, multidisciplinary design and build projects. In this role, you will lead a team of design engineers, ensuring seamless transition from the preconstruction phase to the construction phase while delivering high-quality, cost-effective solutions.
As the Technical Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the full scope of preconstruction activities, including tendering, constructability reviews, and technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle. You will work closely with various teams to assess project requirements, mitigate risks, and ensure that engineering solutions are practical and aligned with regulatory standards.

What will you be doing?
* Analyse client and project requirements outlined in tender documents.
* Collaborate with the sales and business development teams to assess risks and identify opportunities.
* Contribute to initial cost estimates and assist with high-level project scheduling.
* Address design-related questions during the tendering process.
* Lead constructability reviews with the design team to ensure feasibility.
* Provide construction-level input to project schedules and quality plans.
* Support the management of the project’s risk register and health & safety documentation.
* Facilitate the smooth transition from design to construction.
* Offer site support, resolving any construction issues that arise.
* Provide technical guidance to ensure that designs are practical and executable.
* Capture lessons learned throughout the project to inform and improve future project delivery.
What are we looking for?
Essential:
* Extensive experience in preconstruction and construction management.
* Proven ability to lead and manage teams of construction managers, supervisors, and site engineers.
* Strong technical knowledge of construction management, OH&S, and SHEQ.
* Engineering HND or Construction HND (or a related qualification).
* Health & Safety qualification (SMSTS, IOSH, or NEBOSH).
Desirable:
* Knowledge of UK T&D regulations and client standards.
* Familiarity with safe systems of work and engineering best practices.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software.
* CSCS card.
* Strong leadership and communication skills.
