The post holder will be responsible for providing professional support to the Ward Manager in the day-to-day management of the ward. They will be working with people with multiple health/social needs that are often complex. You will be responsible for the delegation of clinical nursing activities to the appropriately skilled staff members ensuring that an efficient and effective service is delivered.
You will be expected to support the Ward Manager and deputize in the manager's absence. You will need to be up to date with all your mandatory training requirements and be able to show evidence of your continued professional development.
You must show awareness of treating patients that have no capacity and the steps to be taken to protect our vulnerable patients along with the ability to instigate a safeguarding referral. The successful candidate will need to attend Multidisciplinary meetings and feedback to the Ward Manager. Showing in depth knowledge of Nursing Assessments/BIM and the implications on this for a patients care needs and how this impacts on patient flow.
Understand the significance of entering datix reports, understand how to carry out an investigation and feedback on any changes that are required following panels etc.
Assist the Ward Manager with the Implementation of the Health board Polices/guidelines and procedures within the nursing team.
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and passionate band 6 ward sister to work on our busy acute 22 bedded frailty ward.
We are ideally seeking an individual with previous ward experience in an acute setting to support the Ward Manager.
Previous management skills would help to make the transition smoother. We will be looking particularly for someone who has a passion regarding the care of acutely unwell elderly patients. The individual must be dynamic in their approach, a hard worker and provide continuous support to the Ward Manager and the rest of the team. Ensuring professionalism and high standards are achieved on the ward at all times, especially when the Ward Manager is off duty.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
