Job title: Finance Business Partner - Developments
Reports to: Financial Controller - Director of Ascent Homes
Location: Wansbeck Workspace, Ashington, Northumberland, NE63 8QZ
Role Purpose
To prepare, develop and analyse key financial information to ensure that the Advance Northumberland Board, ELT and SMT make well-informed, data driven decisions to ensure future financial stability, growth and profitability, with particular reference to the Developments portfolio.
To establish and maintain financial policies and management information systems, as well as provide a high-quality support service by liaising with management colleagues on all aspects of finance.
To provide analysis and report on all project's finances across their entire project lifecycle.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Work directly with the Ascent Homes team, providing a financial business partnering service, focusing on Project Financial Analysis, Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR), End Outcome Forecast (EOF), cashflow forecasting, and other reporting.
2. Critically appraise current reporting processes, identify improvements, and collaborate with the wider team to enhance communication between the Finance and Ascent Homes teams.
3. In conjunction with the Director of Homes, lead on the preparation of the annual budget, revised full year forecast, and medium-term financial plans (MTFP), ensuring spending aligns with the budget.
4. Advise on the financial implications and consequences of business decisions and prepare reports for submission to the Audit Committee and Advance Northumberland Board.
5. Conduct financial appraisal of new projects, prepare cash flows, perform sensitivities analysis, and instigate funding drawdowns as required.
6. Reconcile actual spend to programme managers' records and provide information to the Advance Northumberland Group and external stakeholders as appropriate.
7. Support the preparation of in-year and year-end periodic financial statements including profit and loss accounts, balance sheets, cashflow statements, and associated notes for inclusion within board reports and statutory accounts.
8. Review internal processes to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, and value for money to the Group.
9. Raise plot completion statements for client extras ordered and reconcile any monies paid.
