How you’ll make a difference Working in an agile and devops environment, you’ll play a pivotal role in the design, development, and implementation of mission-critical software applications and systems. You’ll leverage your extensive technical expertise and leadership skills to lead complex projects, mentor junior team members, and drive innovation across TSB. You’ll be proficient in Java / Kotlin programming languages, Android frameworks, and technologies, and often have a deeper understanding of software architecture and design principles. As the Lead Android Engineer, you will be at the forefront of developing within your feature teams’ area of responsibility, driving the technical vision and execution for Android applications. You will take ownership of the team's technical backlog, ensuring that it aligns with business goals and delivers complex, scalable solutions. Working closely with the Tech Lead and iOS Lead, you will validate requirements, contribute to cross-platform consistency, and ensure that the team meets its objectives with high-quality deliverables. What you’ll bring • Proven (5 years) experience as an Android Engineer. • Strong understanding of Android frameworks such as Android Jetpack, Android SDK. • Understanding of Google’s design principles and interface guidelines. • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience. • Experienced in software development, with a focus on full-stack development and architectural design. • Proficiency in one or more programming languages and frameworks, such as Java/ Kotlin and Android Jetpack / Android SDK. • Background in scaled agile software delivery. • Solid understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and best practices for building scalable and maintainable software systems. • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git. • Experience with continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
