Description Wood Transmission and Distribution Ltd is looking for Structural Design Engineers with experience of delivering Overhead Steel Lattice towers and transmission line structures to support major infrastructure projects and enhance their skills, with opportunities for training on local design requirements; while these hybrid positions can be based out of any Wood office, candidates who can work from Glasgow or Horsham may be prioritized. LI-Hybrid The Role Using your expertise in Overhead Steel Lattice towers and Transmission line structures, you will report to the Senior OHL Design Engineer and be responsible for creating structural tower models, conducting assessments of transmission assets, and overseeing structural detailing and quality checks within the team. We welcome applications from experienced OHL structural design professionals skilled in Steel Lattice transmission towers who are keen to enhance their expertise while receiving training on local design requirements; Technical Professional Engineers and Engineering Designers are both eligible for this role. Expected: Experience in working on OHL Steel Transmission towers up to 400kV Experience utilizing PLS Tower design software ISCED Level 6 Bachelors (minimum) or Level 7 Masters (preferred) Degree in engineering discipline, alternatively, tertiary level education combined with suitable industry experience can be used to demonstrate equivalence Experience of delivering Overhead Steel Lattice towers and other Transmission line structures, e.g. transmission poles and termination gantries Awareness of key Health and Safety impacts on OHL construction contracts Fluent spoken and written English language Ability to work as part of a dispersed and remote team and be able to communicate through collaboration software such as Microsoft teams Must have a right to work in the UK currently Desirable: Experience in working on Steel Lattice transmission tower lines Experience of providing engineering inputs to OHL Construction activities including the planning and delivery of OHL Construction Experience presenting technical outputs and supporting client engagements This is a fantastic chance to join a thriving company leading the net zero initiative, with a reliable workstream ahead, and we look forward to your application as you become a key part of our exciting journey.
