What you’ll be responsible for
Leading, motivating and supporting Capital Delivery to ensure programmes are delivered in line with the AMP Business Plans to deliver exceptional outcomes. This will include:
* Ensuring programme wide best in class Health and Safety, Wellbeing and environmental stewardship performance.
* Instilling Customer Led Success approaches in all avenues of programme delivery with particular focus on ensuring planning, environmental and enabling activities contribute to earning the trust of our customers every day.
* Supporting our delivery frameworks in a fair and reasonable manner to enable timely progression of projects. Leading with resonance throughout to facilitate key relationships, manage stakeholders and resolve issues that may put at risk DCWW and frameworks achieving our objectives.
* Ensuring effective working with internal engineering and delivery teams, the Engineering Consultancy Service (ECS) and framework partner teams to ensure our customers have trust in our approach to enabling activities (with particular focus on environmental matters such as ecology, biodiversity and the associated survey work).
* Working collaboratively with the Wastewater Environmental Services Team to ensure the Capital programme supports the objectives of meeting our regulatory obligations, and delivering our Biodiversity Strategy and Action plans.
* Ensure embedded carbon and sustainability agendas are implemented and support Welsh Water’s delivery of its 2050 vision.
* Ensuring effective working relationships with Local Authorities and other key stakeholders within the relevant processes to ensure consistency and efficiency in approaches to consenting matters.
* Ensuring effective working relationships with Asset Planning and Water/Wastewater Asset teams to maintain alignment of strategy and delivery and business plan outcome.
* Implementation of Programme delivery strategy approaches to promote standardisation of enabling activities, such as ecology, environmental surveys, Biodiversity (net gain/net benefit), procurement, and resource optimisation efficiencies.
* Performance managing and training & development of direct reports in accordance with all Human Resource policies and procedures. Inspiring all employees working within your area through the provision of a stimulating and challenging environment that recognises achievements, promotes effective communications and develops individuals to achieve their maximum level of performance.
* Undertaking any other duties as required to meet the needs of the business.

About you
Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Experience
* Ideally an environmental, or science degree, or equivalent professional qualification.
* Membership of a relevant professional body, in particular CIEEM, IWater or CIWEM.
* Ideally a minimum of 5 years experience in environmental service delivery, monitoring or investigations within a regulated setting.
* Experience of the survey, permitting and consenting processes for large programmes of work where there are environmental impacts.
* Experience and understanding of the AMP investment processes, with particular focus on the National Environment Programmes.
* Line management experience and success of building a high performing team.
* An understanding of key environmental legislation such as Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, The Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations 2017 and the Environment Act (Wales) 2016 as well as Planning legislation and the impact of Biodiversity on planning.
* A wide range of project and people management skills are required, combined with experience in the planning, control, and delivery of projects within the water industry.
* Ability to lead multi-disciplined delivery teams to deliver major programmes of work and appropriate levels of service.
* An excellent communicator with strong influencing skills. The ability to develop positive working relationships across internal and external networks and to be seen as a highly credible senior representative of the business is required for this role.
