Position: HVAC Technical Manager (Cooling/Chiller Bias) Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 Location: North East / Yorkshire Hours: 8.30pm-5.30pm Type: Fulltime Field/Site Based Permanent Reports To: Senior HVAC Technical Manager Department: Technical Team Responsible For: Supporting the delivery of commercial HVAC projects As a HVAC Technical Manager you will be integral in overseeing the successful design, installation, and management of cooling systems ranging from 5kW to 1000kW chillers or portable units for hire. You will provide technical expertise and guidance to support internal teams and clients, ensuring project success and customer satisfaction. In this role you will collaborate with internal departments and sales teams to provide practical solutions that support the engineering team in delivering each project. The role involves a combination of office based and site based, in order to manage national HVAC projects though you will be predominantly based in the office. Key Objectives of a HVAC Technical Manager: Cooling Expertise: Leverage in-depth knowledge of cooling systems (refrigeration, AC, process cooling) to support projects. Project Management: Plan, manage, and execute cooling-focused HVAC projects, ensuring timely, budget-compliant delivery and strict H&S compliance via RAMS. Technical Support: Provide installation guidance, troubleshooting, and solutions for the HVAC engineering team. Client Consultation: Identify client cooling needs, recommend solutions, and ensure satisfaction throughout the project. Team Collaboration: Work with engineers and other professionals to ensure high-quality service and system performance. Quality Assurance: Ensure all systems meet industry standards, maintaining efficiency and reliability. Documentation: Maintain accurate project records, documentation, and reports. Key Responsibitlities of a HVAC Technical Manager: Manage sites and maintain strong customer relationships. Conduct site surveys and audits to assess project needs. Provide technical support and practical assistance to engineers during HVAC project execution. Prepare quotations for all project aspects, including equipment, labor, and transport. Develop detailed RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statements) for clients and the sales team. Uphold and support technical standards and operational policies across the business. Oversee project planning and management from start to finish. Ensure H&S compliance within RAMS, collaborating with the HSEQ team. Participate in the out-of-hours on-call manager rota. Essential Experience and Skills of a HVAC Technical Manager: Minimum of NVQ Level 3 in HVAC Engineering or related M&E field or equivilant 2 years in HVAC with a focus on cooling systems Technical Proficiency: Proficient in MS Office, reporting tools, and HVAC technical skills, with strong mechanical knowledge. Problem Solving & Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting and ensuring quality assurance. Communication & Teamwork: Excellent at communicating with engineers and clients; strong collaborative skills to ensure smooth project execution. Commercial Awareness & Customer Focus: Customer-focused with a commercial mindset, supporting sales teams and delivering tailored solutions. Accountability & Task Orientation: Accountable for results, driving projects to completion efficiently with a focus on high professional standards. Adaptability & Resilience: Adaptable to changing workloads and capable of managing multiple projects under pressure.
