What You Need to Know
As a member of our Supplier Quality Development team, each Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for undertaking supplier development activities within one or more of the regions in which Proserv’s suppliers operate.
The primary objectives are to drive supplier improvement by:
1. Undertaking supplier audit assessments (both onsite and virtual as required).
2. Reducing non-conformances/concessions and improving on-time delivery.
3. Leading internal improvements that make Proserv a ‘better customer', generating shared cost savings and efficiencies.
4. Writing and submitting reports.
5. Facilitating internal/external meetings with various stakeholders.
We welcome applications from those candidates who can work out of one of our UK Proserv Offices (Great Yarmouth, Aberdeen Westhill, Skene), but we also support remote working with the understanding that we would expect regular travel to our Facilities and Clients.
Our Key Accountabilities
SQE specific – for the suppliers within your allocated region:
1. Perform assessments of new suppliers to ensure they meet the quality and capability requirements to be a supplier to Proserv.
2. Continuous evaluation and assessment of Supplier Quality risk and opportunity in line with changes to supplier scopes and usage level.
3. Maintenance of records that relate to supplier quality risk and opportunities.
4. Manage and use own time effectively.
5. Self-discipline and self-motivated.
6. Take responsibility for own actions.
7. Develop and manage supplier quality initiatives including vendor expectations, inspection standards and capability studies for incoming materials to ensure goods received at Proserv site are ‘right first time’.
8. Collate and evaluate supplier quality data to identify supplier process improvement opportunities.
9. Work with the suppliers directly, create and monitor the execution of containment and corrective action plans to address process failures.
10. Facilitate root cause analysis and corrective actions of supplier quality issues until such time that the supplier is able to carry this out unsupported.
11. Train suppliers to carry out effective root cause analysis and prevent recurring issues at supplier site without Proserv facilitation.
12. Perform on-site supplier audits for verification of correction actions from RCA.
13. Work with Proserv Engineers, Project Management and Supplier to agree appropriate documentation requirements prior to commencement of work.
14. Support supplier development e.g., capability, adequate Quality controls, Quality Assurance mentality, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA’s), Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Value Engineering to drive out cost.
15. Take ownership of and lead investigations into reasons for negative trends in Supplier Quality and Delivery.
16. Supplier HSE spot-audits in line with the ‘Global Audit Assessment Template’.
17. Monitor and reduce supplier concessions through working with supplier and Proserv Engineers.
18. Identify and manage supplier improvement initiatives.
19. Work with Product and Design Engineers to define process parameters and criteria to ensure supplier process capability is effective to meet product and process requirements.
20. Work with Project Engineers to improve understanding of supplier product compatibility and application in order to balance Client specification with cost-effective/quality products.
21. Promote the use of techniques for continuous improvement such as Poka-Yoke (Error Proofing), Measurement System Analysis, Statistical Process control, Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), and Lean.
22. Assist the development of Supplier score card reports for sharing with Suppliers and Proserv Senior Management, which measure a comprehensive performance of critical suppliers across areas such as Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, ESG and Continuous Improvement.
23. Support Quarterly Business Reviews with Critical Suppliers and work collaboratively with Suppliers to develop their performance reports utilizing Supplier Quality Score Card Reports, RCA’s, Corrective Actions, etc.
Education & Qualifications
1. Degree preferred; HNC, City & Guilds Licentiateship, BTEC Higher Professional Diploma, NVQ level 4 or equivalent qualification in Engineering or similar technical discipline.
2. Lead Auditor qualified.
Experience & Skills
Essential
1. Experience of dealing with customers and suppliers and proven experience of Supplier quality development demonstrated through results.
2. Understanding and interpretation of engineering drawings.
3. Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment.
4. Planning and prioritising activities.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to present data effectively and problem-solving skills, Analytical skills, SPC, Root Cause Analysis.
Desirable
1. SQD experience in Automotive, Aerospace or Energy.
2. Understanding manufacturing processes; fabrication and machining (CNC) & Coating knowledge.
3. Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).
4. Lean Manufacturing knowledge.
5. Electrical / Electronic experience.
6. Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing and measurement techniques and methods.
7. Metrology, Inspection Methods and General Inspection Equipment.
8. ISO9001 / TS16949 / ISO45001 / ISO14001.
9. Understanding of Health and Safety practices.
10. Negotiation Skills.
11. Understanding of cost and financial impacts.
