Job Opportunity: DT or Construction Teacher (SEMH School)

Join a dedicated team at a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school in West Drayton. We cater to students aged 11 to 19 who face a variety of challenges, including behavioural and emotional needs. Our school provides a nurturing and supportive environment where staff work closely with students to help them achieve both academic and personal growth.
Position Overview:
We are looking for a passionate and skilled Design Technology (DT) or Construction Teacher to join our team on a full-time basis. You will be responsible for delivering engaging, practical lessons that meet the unique needs of our students, many of whom require individualized approaches to learning due to their behavioural and emotional challenges.
Responsibilities:
1. Plan and deliver engaging lessons in Design Technology or Construction, tailored to the needs of students with SEMH.
2. Create a positive and structured classroom environment that fosters personal growth and academic achievement.
3. Work closely with other staff members to ensure that all students receive the support they need, both academically and emotionally.
4. Monitor student progress, providing regular feedback and implementing appropriate strategies to support their learning and behaviour.
5. Build strong, positive relationships with students to help them navigate their individual challenges and achieve their potential.
6. Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent experience in teaching DT, Construction, or a related vocational subject.
2. Experience working with students with SEMH, SEN, or behavioural needs is highly desirable.
3. Strong classroom management skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
4. Patience, resilience, and a commitment to making a difference in the lives of young people with complex needs.
