Wildlife Wise is a new brand and team on the Suffolk Coast. We are working with residents and visitors to prevent disturbance and damage to its internationally important wildlife and habitats. Wildlife Wise is hosted by East Suffolk Council, also working on behalf of Ipswich Borough Council, Babergh District Council and Mid Suffolk District Council.
We currently have an opportunity to join Wildlife Wise in East Suffolk Council's Specialist Services team as a Wildlife and Visitors Ranger.
The role:
In this new and exciting role, you will work to protect Suffolk’s internationally important coastal, estuarine and heathland wildlife sites (European sites) from harm that could occur because of increased recreational use of the sites.
You will provide a Ranger presence at key wildlife sites and undertake in-person engagement with communities, recreational users, and landowners. You will facilitate projects to deliver the Suffolk Coast Recreational Disturbance Avoidance and Mitigation Strategy (RAMS), known publicly as Wildlife Wise. This will include engaging with local people and visitors to promote responsible use of the European sites and undertaking practical tasks that will prevent disturbance to wildlife and habitats.
What you will need:
A passion for the environment and the benefits for people of spending time enjoying nature responsibly. You will be an ambassador for making a difference across coastal, estuarine, and heathland wildlife sites. You will have experience of developing positive working relationships with a wide range of people and organisations, and have strong communication, networking, and teamworking skills.
If you think you have what it takes to be successful in this role, even if you don’t meet all the essential requirements, please apply. We would appreciate the opportunity to consider your application.
