We are seeking a skilled and experienced Head of Transport to join our dynamic team. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the smooth, profitable, and compliant running of our dedicated road transport fleet and freight forwarding operations across the UK. You will play a critical role in ensuring the profitability of customer P&L, minimising customer-related issues, and ensuring that all transport and freight operations comply with the necessary regulations. The role also requires oversight of KPIs, contracts, and terms & conditions to ensure alignment with operational and customer requirements.
This role will involve overseeing a team of Transport/Operations Managers and multiple sites, driving operational excellence while supporting the customer onboarding process and ensuring full compliance with both GBA and customer standards.

Key Responsibilities
* Operator Licence Compliance: Ensure that all transport operations maintain full compliance with operator licensing regulations.
* Driver Compliance: Oversee driver compliance, ensuring all drivers meet necessary safety and operational standards.
* P&L Management: Monitor and manage customer P&Ls to ensure profitable and efficient operations.
* Customer Compliance/Performance: Ensure that all customer-related processes meet agreed-upon performance standards and contractual obligations.
* Operational Oversight: Oversee the day-to-day operations, ensuring operational efficiency across transport and freight forwarding activities.
* Customer Onboarding: Support the seamless onboarding of new customers, ensuring all related operational activities are completed according to both customer and GBA requirements.
* Contractual Compliance: Ensure that all activities are carried out in full compliance with contracts, terms, and conditions, monitoring for any potential risks or breaches.
You
* Proven experience in a senior transport or logistics management role.
* Strong knowledge of transport legislation and compliance requirements.
* Experience managing and improving P&L and performance metrics.
* Excellent leadership and people management skills, with experience overseeing a team of managers and staff.
* Strong understanding of operational efficiency, cost control, and customer satisfaction.
* Experience in customer onboarding processes, ensuring smooth transitions and service delivery.
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage customer issues effectively.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
