About the role?
In this role, you will be at the forefront of delivering high-quality environmental leadership, driving nature recovery, and addressing the ecological and climate emergencies. You will lead a multidisciplinary team of specialists in biodiversity, arboriculture, conservation, urban design, landscape, and green infrastructure to ensure sustainable and innovative solutions across the district.
You will need?
Relevant undergraduate and postgraduate degrees (within at least one Natural, Built and Historic Environment (NBHE) specialism)
Five years' experience in a relevant field
Relevant professional membership/qualification (CIEEM; LI; IHBC etc)
Sound knowledge, understanding and experience of at least one NBHE specialism (with good understanding and experience of the other specialisms)
Experience of working with internal/external customers partners/clients/stakeholders and elected members
Experience of managing a team (preferably across a range of specialisms)
Key Responsibilities?
Provide strategic leadership to secure and promote the conservation and enhancement of the natural, historic and built environment
Lead and manage the Natural, Built & Historic Environment (NBHE) team to deliver high-quality environmental advice across council services, particularly planning policy and development management
Influence and work alongside stakeholders, elected members, colleagues, external partners and customers to ensure high quality design and sustainability in new developments
Collaborate with wider partnerships and lead relevant projects to drive sustainable development and nature recovery
Develop and implement strategies and policies to address climate and ecological challenges
