General Dynamics Mission Systems in St Leonards-on-Sea currently provide a wide range of Avionic Mission Computing Systems for Military Fast Jets, Helicopters and UAVs. Recent success has resulted in General Dynamics developing the next generation of Advanced High Performance, Safety Critical Mission Computer Systems to meet the needs of the latest platforms in development by several aircraft manufacturers. These Mission Computing Systems provide the functionality that integrates aircraft systems, sensor systems and weapon systems with the information and control systems required by the aircrew to meet the demanding operational needs of these aircraft.
Job Description
As a Production Engineer, you will be responsible for all aspects of manufacturing documentation including work instructions and change management. You will develop the most efficient assembly methods and process flows using people, parts and tooling. The Production Engineer will work closely with other functional departments, particularly Production, Quality & Design Engineering, to help maintain and improve quality, cost and delivery performance.
You Will Also
* Take full ownership of the Build Definition Process, considering assembly methods, process steps and product routing.
* Interpret complex technical drawings and translate them into user-friendly step-by-step build instructions for shop-floor operatives.
* Identify tooling, fixtures and special processes for existing and new products.
* Act as the first point of contact for the resolution of manufacturing and process issues and provide feedback on these issues and possible solutions to the Design Authority.
* Contribute to ‘Lean and Continuous Improvement’ initiatives throughout manufacturing.
Qualifications
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong working knowledge of writing work instructions, product routing and understanding technical drawings.
* Formal training in the use and deployment of Lean Toolsets.
* Assisting on regulatory or standards audits when required.
* Act and make decisions upon your own initiative.
* Excellent capacity for problem-solving combined with report writing skills.
* Capable of working on numerous tasks in parallel.
* Expert with the Microsoft Office toolset (Word, Excel).
* Minimum of HNC level education or equivalent with several years of experience as a Production Engineer.
* Preferred experience in electronic and wire harness assembly.
Additional Information
This role of Production Engineer has a starting salary of £29,520 to £37,000 dependent upon experience and an attractive flexible benefits package.
