Unit Clerk - Cancer Care & Haematology Unit
This post provides an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic person to provide administrative and clerical support to the nursing staff within the Cancer Care & Haematology Unit, Stoke Mandeville Hospital. The unit is open Monday to Friday.
Main duties of the job
1. Act as the focal point of administrative communications for the treatment area, taking all telephone enquiries, personal callers/visitors and directing patients where necessary.
2. Input the patient activity from the treatment area into the CRS system, including admission, transfer and discharge details as directed by the Nurse in charge.
3. Prepare documentation from admission to discharge for use by the nursing team.
4. Ensure documentation is sent for scanning in a timely manner.
5. Maintain patient documentation in an organised and methodical manner according to Trust guidelines.
6. Print patient labels and wrist bands as required.
7. Prepare blood request forms as necessary.
8. Ensure there is an adequate supply of appropriate patient information leaflets for the ward area.

Person Specification
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
* Educated to English GCSE or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE
* Experience of computers and working in an office/reception environment.
SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE
* Excellent keyboard skills are required to ensure provision of an efficient and accurate service to patients and medical staff.
* Clear and concise verbal communication to ensure accuracy of information being required or transferred.
* Knowledge of Trust systems for the day-to-day administration, e.g., Medway, Aria.
SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES
* Ability to work across site.
