Job summary We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and well-motivated Band 5 Biomedical Scientist to join the Haematology team in Aneurin Bevan University Health Board at our Grange University Hospital site. We would also consider a trainee Band 5 on Annex 21. The hub is in the purpose built, modern Blood Sciences laboratory at the Grange University Hospital, with the aim to deliver high quality Haematology, Coagulation, Immunology & Blood Transfusion services. Main duties of the job We welcome applications from suitably qualified Biomedical Scientists, who have HCPC registration and relevant experience in Haematology. We also welcome applications from trainee Biomedical Scientists who will be placed on Annex 21 until they achieve their registration portfolio. Full time, part time or job share applications will be considered. The post is a full time permanent role, covering 37.5 hours over a 7 day working week. Participation in the out of hours service will be an essential requirement, once deemed competent in all relevant areas. The OOH service is provided over 24/7, 365 days with a shift pattern derived through e-roster. The post will be rotating across all sites in ABUHB, this includes the Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport, Nevill Hall Hospital, Abergavenny and the Grange University Hospital, Cwmbran. The department has full UKAS accreditation and is an approved IBMS training laboratory. Continuous professional development (CPD) and completion of an IBMS Specialist Portfolio (if required) is actively encouraged and supported. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
