A great opportunity has arisen for a Ward Clerk to join our team at Evesham Community Hospital. We are seeking to appoint a Ward Clerk for a busy 19 bedded ward.
The post is for 22.5 hours over 3 days, working on Monday, Thursday, and Friday. However, the postholder should be flexible to cover other days if required.
As a Ward Clerk, you will be the first point of contact for families and visitors by greeting them to the Ward.
Duties will include:
* Ensuring all patient admissions, discharges, and transfers are accurately recorded and entered onto the appropriate computerised system.
* To ensure that patient medical records are accurately inputted and kept in accordance with Directorate and Trust directives.
* To be responsible for the booking and coordination of transport for patients being discharged if required.
* You must be organised, able to work under pressure, and possess a flexible approach to duties. Ideally, you will have experience of dealing with members of the public and have good interpersonal skills.
* Support in covering the main reception desk of the hospital.
* Support in covering the Radiology reception desk of the hospital.

Main duties of the job
Responsible for answering the ward telephone, admitting, and discharging patients on the hospital computer systems and ensuring all patient demographic information is accurate.
Scanning and filing patient notes.
General clerical duties to support any of the wards and wider hospital team as required.
You will need to be able to work flexibly and apply a methodical approach to a varying workload in what can be a fast-paced, pressurised environment.
You should be self-motivated, have excellent communication/interpersonal skills, and have the ability to work on your own as well as part of a busy team where the work can be deadline-driven and very much enjoy working in a clinical environment.
Previous clerical experience is desirable; administrative and keyboard skills would be an advantage.
The successful candidate will need an excellent telephone manner and must be able to deal efficiently with members of the public and all disciplines of hospital staff.

Person Specification
Knowledge
* Knowledge of office procedures.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook.
* Understanding of the Data Protection Act and NHS Code of Confidentiality.
Additional Criteria
* Ability to meet the travel requirements of the role.

Qualifications
* Level 2 qualification (e.g. GCSE Grade 4-9/A-C, NVQ 2, OCR/ RSA 2, City & Guilds 2) in a Business Administration related subject.
* OR
* Level 2 qualification in an alternative subject and will be expected to undertake the relevant level 2 qualification on appointment to post.
* OR
* Considerable recent NHS administrative experience and will be expected to undertake the relevant level 2 qualification on appointment to post.
* I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.
Experience
* Recent, relevant experience in an Administrative/Secretarial/Reception Role.
