Youth Worker – Alternative Provision
Are you passionate about making a difference in young people’s lives? Do you have the ability to build strong relationships and support students who need an alternative approach to education?
We are looking for a Youth Worker to join an alternative provision school, working with students who have Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). The goal is to reengage students in learning and support them in developing the confidence and skills needed to eventually return to mainstream education.
The Role:
* Engage students through activities, sports, and mentoring to create a positive learning environment.
* Build trusting relationships and act as a role model, helping students overcome barriers to education.
* Encourage participation in learning through inclusive and adaptable approaches.
* Support students with social, emotional, and behavioural challenges, using de-escalation and positive reinforcement strategies.
* Work alongside teachers and support staff to create a structured and supportive setting.
The Ideal Candidate:
* Background in youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, or similar roles.
* Experience working with young people who have SEMH, SEN, or behavioural challenges.
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills, able to gain students’ trust and respect.
* Enthusiastic, patient, and adaptable, with a passion for helping young people succeed.
* Ability to manage challenging behaviours and provide emotional and pastoral support.
