The Lead Scientist is a key member of the laboratory team who works on multiple complex projects to resolve challenging technical issues and deliver high quality execution of experimental work following all safety and quality procedures. They are responsible for planning and completing complex experiments and supporting more junior colleagues to plan and complete their projects. They will identify and implement technical and operational improvement projects. The Lead Scientist will work closely with customers to resolve complex issues by understanding their needs, plan experimental work that meets customer expectations, present progress on project stages and respond to customer questions. Key Accountabilities and Duties: Competently plan and execute and direct the work of others Competently lead and be accountable for the delivery of multiple projects (safety, quality, regulatory, right first time, on time) including creation and completion of project dashboards Raise risks and issues in a timely fashion (technical, resource, Customer, cost) Lead problem solving / trouble shooting / lessons learned activities Coach, mentor and train more junior members of department as required Role model for communication, standard process and behavior within Development Services In charge of developing Customer proposals (technical content and work days) Proactively input into departmental improvements Review and write reports to an agreed standard suitable for final review by Head of Department Qualifications/Skills: Highly experienced in the field of Analytical Development A high degree of proficiency in some of the following techniques: SPR/Biacore methods, 2D-HCP, HPLC, CE-SDS, ELISA/plate based methods, cell-based methods, MS. Experience in implementation of High-throughput automated methods and digitisation of processes would be an advantage Additionally understanding of regulatory requirement, CMC and experience in DOE/AQbD would be an advantage.
