The EMEESY children's kidney network at Nottingham Children's Hospital is looking for an experienced paediatric nephrology nurse to join the team.
You will be a clinical and professional role model with a passion for the delivery of high quality clinical care and the support and development of others. You will be an effective team player but also able to plan and organise your own workload, possess excellent communication skills, and an ability to teach families and health professionals. You will be working as part of a dynamic and forward thinking multi-professional team offering key opportunities to develop your career as a nurse specialist.
The successful candidate will lead, manage and develop the paediatric renal home therapies service. The service consists of a small team who care for children on home peritoneal dialysis, IV infusion and other treatments delivered in the community. There will also be joint working with the home haemodialysis nurse specialist.
Main duties of the job
To lead, manage, develop and deliver a high-quality Children and Young Peoples Home Therapy service, including peritoneal dialysis, haemodialysis and nephrology related treatments. Act as a clinical expert within the field of paediatric nephrology and a professional resource to the multidisciplinary team in the acute and community setting and throughout the EMEESY Network. Also act as an advocate on behalf of the child and family.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Lead and manage the renal home therapies service.
* Manage the band 6 nurse specialists.
* Provide cover in the absence of the lead nurse.
* Manage a caseload of patients.
* Participate in the paediatric renal nurse on call service.
* Provide expert practice and specialist advice in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care.
Person specification
Qualifications and training
* Degree in nursing or health related subject.
* Portfolio demonstrating continuous personal, professional and academic development.
* Competent in haemodialysis and plasma filtration.
* Recognised teaching/assessing qualification.
* Evidence of study at Master’s Level.
* Non-medical Prescribing.
* Recognised nephrology nursing course.
Experience
* Significant post registration experience in paediatric nephrology.
* Demonstrate professional autonomy and exhibit effective decision-making skills.
* Experience of training families in clinical procedures.
* Understanding of risk management/clinical governance.
Planning and organisational skills
* Able to organise own workload.
* Able to develop, implement and monitor local protocols and objectives.
