To have a thorough knowledge of all practice procedures To work in accordance of written protocols Scan incoming post and other documents for electronic filing of clinical correspondence Action third party requests for medical records in accordance with practice protocol Prepare and open up practice at start of day when on early duty Greet & receive patients, consulting with members of practice team Check patients in on arrival using the practice computer system (EMIS) or direct them to self-check in. Oversee the reception area in such a way that ensures all patients are seen in turn Deal with prescriptions Be able to cover all reception tasks as necessary Close and secure practice at end of day when on late duty Process appointment requests for today/future appointments from patients by telephone and in person using the practice computer system (EMIS) Registrations of new regular patients and temporary patients computer data entry and medical records Maintain working knowledge of telephone system Answer telephone calls to the practice dealing with enquiries, fielding calls where appropriate or taking messages using the practice electronic message book Sort and date stamp all incoming patient-related mail Scan patient-related documents onto medical records using read codes as agreed by the clinical team Forward relevant documents to the doctor or nurse Ensure incoming letters are scanned onto the patient record Scan all internal paper documents on to the relevant patients record and then store the documents in line with practice procedure
