We are currently seeking a compassionate and committed Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant school community in Watford. This is an immediate start opportunity for a role where you will play a crucial part in helping students with diverse needs succeed both academically and emotionally.
Responsibilities
- Provide tailored support to students with SEN, offering one-to-one and small group assistance that caters to their unique learning styles.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to implement specialised education plans and strategies designed to support individual student needs.
- Create and maintain a positive, inclusive learning environment that encourages every student to feel valued and motivated to achieve their potential.
- Work closely with SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators) and other staff to set and deliver personalised learning goals and interventions.
- Track and report on student progress and behaviour, sharing feedback with teachers and families.
- Assist in implementing sensory integration techniques and other therapeutic interventions where necessary.
Requirements
- Experience working with individuals with SEN, ideally in a school setting.
- A genuine enthusiasm for supporting the personal and academic development of students with SEN.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build meaningful relationships with students, staff, and families.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience when managing challenging situations.
- Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent, are advantageous but not essential.
- Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.
