Ancillary Ambulance Vehicle Preparation (AVP) Operative - Batemoor
We are pleased to offer a vacancy opportunity to join our existing dedicated Ancillary-AVP Operative team based at Batemoor Ambulance Station.
The primary role is to deep clean frontline Ambulance Vehicles in line with the Ambulance Vehicle Preparation (AVP) requirements and maintain effective housekeeping of garage and associated clinical areas.
Unsociable out of hours payment is provided for this role: extra 41% for hours between 20:00 and 06:00 & Sundays 83% for all hours worked within these times.
This role offers competitive out of hours unsocial rates on top of the basic salary indicated, subject to NHS terms and conditions. Please contact us for further information.
Our training package includes Level 2 Apprenticeship and access to Level 2 NCFE.
This role may require you to travel throughout Yorkshire as and when required to other Ambulance Stations during your shift (transport provided).
Main duties of the job
Duties to include:
Ambulance Vehicle Preparation Operatives process Ambulance Service Vehicles in a prescribed and controlled way that ensures each ambulance is fully equipped and prepared to attend and treat a patient. The role is a key operational support function, which ensures patient safety whilst supporting Operations in meeting its targets.
Main duties include detailed cleaning and Infection Prevention and Control activities, checking and inspecting medical and lifting & handling equipment, restocking all consumables, and completing vehicle checks. Other duties include the preparation of consumables, stock control, re-fuelling, moving vehicles across various locations, recording all daily activities, and the repatriation of equipment from Hospital Trusts.
Cross-site location working may be required within your daily/weekly activities for which transport will be provided during your working times.
No experience is required as full training will be given. An initial 4-week training package forms part of your Learning and Development.

Job responsibilities
A Driving License with C1 Class is Essential: You will be required to confirm within your application that you hold a full C1 Category on your license which is valid within the UK.
The working days and times are dependent upon current provision required to meet operational/patient demand and this can include Bank Holidays, weekends, and nights, preparing our frontline operational vehicles and maintaining our provision on a 24-hour basis. A significant percentage of our Ambulance Vehicle Preparation is completed overnight. However, night and weekend working does attract unsocial payments.
Holiday entitlement is between 27 days and 33 days (pro-rata) depending on length of NHS service plus bank holidays on a pro-rata basis.

Person Specification
Experience
* Previous cleaning experience.
* Working knowledge of COSHH / Risk Assessments.
* Previous knowledge of Infection Control Procedures.
Personal / Other
* Driving licence with full Category C1 entitlement, valid in the UK.
* Ability to work individually or as part of a team.
* Ability to work unsocial hours on a 7 day/24 hour shift rota system.
* Previous experience of implementing effective Infection Prevention and Control measures.
Qualifications and Knowledge
* Good literacy and numerical skills in order to pass the required examinations and tests.
* Candidates must indicate an acceptance of and commitment to the principles underlying the Trust's Equal Opportunities Policy.
* Awareness of Workplace Health and Safety, COSHH, Risk Assessments preferably associated with standard procedures and practices within the cleaning services sector.
* Ability to complete tasks and achieve results.
* Effective communicator both verbal and written.
* Basic IT Skills (Email, Internet, Office) including handheld data devices (Tablets, Telephones).
* Ability to work alone and deal with a number of issues in accordance with written procedures using initiative.
