Shropshire Council’s Licensing Team is responsible for managing nearly 10,000 licenses for Shropshire businesses including pubs and clubs, gambling premises, taxis, tattooists and skin piercers, animal breeders and sex shops to name a few. Licensing visiting officers are the eyes and ears of the Licensing Team on a day-to-day basis. They are responsible for carrying out visits and inspections across a wide range of licence types, providing basic advice to customers and timely and accurate reports to case officers. Licensing visiting officers spend the majority of their time out of the office carrying out visits and inspections across Shropshire. The Shropshire Plan recognises the importance of supporting businesses to provide safer services. The fundamental purpose of the Licensing service is to support businesses to deliver their services in a way which allows them to thrive whilst protecting the safety and welfare of the public who live, work and visit Shropshire; together this will help to achieve a Healthy Economy.
