The post holder will assist in the management of the pharmacy procurement services for Derby and Burton.
Co-ordination of the service ensuring suppliers are contacted regularly regarding supply chain problems and shortages, and the information is shared with the pharmacy teams.
Support the Chief Pharmacy Technician in the day-to-day management of the pharmacy procurement service.
Ensure adequate staffing levels and skill mix are maintained and to escalate to the Chief Technicians if any shortfalls are identified.
Oversee the maintenance of weekly shortage reports detailing up-to-date information on product availability communicated to the UHDB pharmacy teams.
Main duties of the job
Responsible for items owing to other pharmacy areas are reviewed, ordering stock when necessary or arranging alternative products, this will include checking outstanding orders from suppliers with the assistance from the Procurement Administrator.
Assist the Chief Technicians with the recruitment, return to work, annual leave allocation and annual appraisal of delegated staff ensuring records are accurately maintained.
Supports effective stock control through the appropriate procurement within Pharmacy.
Support in the management of reviewing drug alerts from the MHRA, pharmaceutical industry and other agencies.
Assist in the maintenance and development of unlicensed policy and procedures, assisting in the creation of specification sheets for unlicensed medicines.
Pharmacy Procurement is an essential part of the Pharmacy Service ensuring medicines are always available for our patients at UHDB.
