About the role
An opportunity has arisen to join the Market Risk team in the Treasury department as a market risk manager with responsibility for assurance activities. In this role you will be directly responsible for supporting and enhancing the market risk control framework for both regulatory and internal reporting including championing the uplift of our EUCs. This includes responsibility for ensuring compliant, accurate and timely delivery of market risk regulatory reporting produced by others within the team and, escalation and resolution of risk appetite breaches and deputisation for the market risk senior manager. To support well-controlled and effective operation of the internal risk transfer processes you will be responsible for conducting end to end error reviews including recommendation of improvements and reporting of operational risk events while promoting best practice. Although this role has no line management responsibility, you will be a thought leader across the team and into the wider Finance division.
You'll be joining an established team and will be expected to drive your own work plan. This role would ideally suit someone with a strong background in financial risk controls, either first or second line, who is looking to build their knowledge into the specialist area of market risk management.
In this role you'll digest changes to the regulatory landscape and articulate what they mean for YBS. So, developing a strong knowledge of YBS’ balance sheet will be key to success in the role. In addition, you will champion a positive risk management culture.
About You
You'll need in-depth knowledge of control frameworks and financial risk reporting. This'll be coupled with:
* Familiarity with the banking book and financial market products, with a broad knowledge of finance and balance sheet management within an organisation.
* An understanding of market risk reporting, both those which are a regulatory requirement and those used for internal management purposes. These include the FSA017 and pillar 3 disclosures as well as tools used within our internal risk appetite such as NII and PV01.
* Experience of delivering change through others while upholding a psychologically safe environment enabling colleagues to speak openly.
* Ability to work within tight deadlines, appropriately engaging with and escalating to stakeholders at all levels.
* Excellent attention to detail, a pro-active attitude and continuous improvement mindset.
* Effective communication, engagement and influencing skills demonstrating the ability to understand, define and articulate business requirements.
* You’ll be someone who is keen to help others learn and develop and, while not a line manager, you’ll be a leader who supports analysts within Market Risk to deliver great work.
