Be part of the QinetiQ journey. Join us as a Installation CAD Engineer at our Portsdown Technology Park site where you will play a crucial role in supporting the maritime industry by creating CAD drawings, and producing installation documentation.
The Role
As an Installation CAD Engineer, you’ll have a role that is out of the ordinary,collaborating with project managers to understand customer requirements and develop integration plans. If you have analytical skills, electrical knowledge, and a passion for engineering, this is the opportunity for you to excel and contribute to our cutting-edge maritime systems.
Day-to-day, you'llworkprimarily employed in the Shore Integration Facility (SIF) and National Maritime Systems Centre (NMSC), Portsdown Technology Park (PTP), Portsmouth,assisting with the installation and de-installation of equipment into the SIF & NMSC.The SIF & NMSC is a facility that allows our customers to run ships equipment to carry out trails and scenario based evaluations.
You will also:
* Produce CAD drawings and other documentation to aid theinstallation of the equipmentinto the facilities. Electrical & mechanical drawings including (not exhaustive) room layouts, cable routes, wiring diagrams, cable data sheets, mechanical
* Work with project managers to understand customer requirements and help create a plan to integrate the works necessary through the production and reviewing of (IGP’s) Installation Guidance PackagesYou'llliaise with the electrical and mechanical fitting team to understand requirements for the design
* Adhere to the Installation Guidance Package KPI, which is a measuring tool to gauge the progress of the IGP Process
* Attend and have an active speaking part in meetings and reviews
Essential Experience of theInstallation CAD Engineer:
* Analytical & investigative skills to turn basic requirements information into a comprehensive IGP
* Proficient in a CAD software, mainly Solidworks and beable to create CAD drawings mainly 2D
* An Electrical/Mechanical bias and with some form of electrical knowledge or competency
* Be able to maintain a high level of performance under pressure
* Experience of maritime systemsandinstallation experience
Qualifications of theInstallation CAD Engineer:
* Understanding of DEF Stan 2-40 regulations
