About the Role
We have an excellent opportunity for a Flight Simulator Engineer to join our team team based between two sites in Barkston Heath and Cranwell in Lincolnshire. You'll be supporting Pilot training, carrying out scheduling maintenance and fault finding at component level.
Other duties include:
1. Provide maintenance support of the Synthetic Training Equipment (STE), and associated training equipment.
2. Perform advance fault isolation, repair, operational checks, and preventive maintenance actions of simulators and associated training systems, to include Server main frames, Host industrial computers, visual display projected systems, electric and hydraulic control loading and motion systems, computer networks, managed network switches. Refrigerant and air conditioning units and associated electronic equipment.
3. Conducts technical analysis of product implementations to include reliability, maintainability and logistical analysis
4. Troubleshoot technical problems and issues, determine technical solution in accordance with product and customer specifications, and recommend actions to company or customer representatives for coordinative product solutions
5. Comply with all Health and Safety Regulations and Quality Assurance plans within the Synthetic Training Equipment environment.
6. Perform scheduled and corrective maintenance to ensure that Synthetic Training Equipment performance objectives are achieved.
7. Carry out 2nd and 3rd line repairs to removed LRUs
8. Provide support and assistance during Post Design Services (PDS) modifications.
9. Preparation of all Flight Simulators to a high standard to ensure the training programme is delivered to plan.
10. Rectification of defects on flight simulators, their sub-systems and components, flight simulator visual systems using a range of skills to include repair, overhaul, adjustment, maintenance, calibration, testing and inspection.
11. Modification of existing hardware and software to maintain regulatory compliance, company standards and optimum device performance.
12. Quick action to resolve issues that affect the training of aircrew using the simulators and training equipment will be a priority.
13. Preventative maintenance and testing to ensure that the simulators are maintained to the required regulatory standard.
14. Maintenance of all technical, regulatory and company documentation including IT system based records required to support the successful operation of the Flight Training Centre.
15. Research and development of new projects to continuously improve the Simulator performance.
16. Perform any other task which can reasonably be expected by the Simulator Site Manager.

Earlies:
06:30 - 14:00 Monday to Thursday
06:30 - 17:00 Friday
Lates:
13:30 - 22:00 Monday to Thursday
Required skills, qualifications and experience
17. 2-3 years Flight Simulator experience or transferrable aircraft engineering experience. With the demonstrated ability to perform assigned technical electronics engineering tasks, with at least a minimum of 2-3 years of recent experience.
18. Demonstrate good understanding of the operating principles of the simulator and FTD sub systems
19. Has received additional training on Simulator systems for one or more of the following: Visual Systems, I/O systems, Hydraulics, Host Computer, Avionics, or other FTD sub-systems
20. Ability to interpret schematics, drawings and electrical wire diagrams.
21. Comprehensive understanding of both digital and analogue electronic theories.
22. Qualified in soldering techniques.
23. Skilled in MS windows file manipulation and software backup techniques.
24. Knowledgeable and experienced with the use of test equipment; to include Oscilloscopes, Signal Generators, Logic Analysers, Frequency Analysers, DVMs and software fault capture subroutines.
25. Able to calibrate, install, maintain associated support equipment.
26. Accomplished in the use of personal computers; to include Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint as well PC VOIP systems.
27. Excellent Communication and Technical writing skills are a must.
28. Able to work flexible shifts that include nights and weekends as required.
29. Requires ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.
Desirable But Not Essential Skills:
30. Experience in Distributed Training and Mission Rehearsal operations.
31. Experience with Image Generators and geometric multi projected visual alignment
32. Experience in the military flight training system.
33. Experience with live, virtual, constructive training.
