Job Title: Firmware Engineer
Raytheon UK is seeking an experienced Firmware Engineer to join the Assured Position, Navigation and Timing (APNT) team within the Global Sensors Mission Area. The role involves creating Digital GPS Anti-Jam Systems for the military market and is based at Raytheon’s Harlow facility. The successful candidate will report directly to the APNT Hardware Engineering Lead.
The Senior Firmware Engineer will work on a broad range of product designs and assist in integrating these designs into complete systems, acting as the focal point for system development.

Main Duties:
1. Support the APNT Team across various programmes, including developing requirements to ensure compliance with standards.
2. Create and manage firmware architectures, mainly for FPGAs.
3. Understand, decompose, and verify firmware requirements.
4. Define and perform unit and subsystem level testing for embedded firmware.
5. Collaborate with embedded system, software, and electronic design engineers.
6. Generate design documentation and conduct technical reviews.
7. Experience creating firmware architectures and verifying requirements.
8. Work with FPGAs and SoC technologies, programming in VHDL.
9. Present technical information clearly and concisely.
10. Demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills.
11. Be open to learning new techniques and adapt to a dynamic work environment.
12. Analyze and report on technical data.
13. Hold or be eligible for current SC security clearance.
14. Use design tools like Vivado and Vitis, or equivalents, and work with Xilinx chips.
15. Deliver embedded firmware as part of a product and create embedded system architectures.
16. Apply a systems engineering approach across the development lifecycle.
17. Knowledge of defence engineering and airborne standards.
18. Experience with Model Based System Engineering tools such as Simulink.
