Section 2 - Purpose of Job
* Sustainable Capital Markets EMEA (SCM) sits within the EMEA Sustainability Solutions team, which is part of EMEA Corporate Finance & Sustainability Solutions Group.
* AVP will assist the origination process of SF deals throughout the transaction cycle in close cooperation with the SCM transaction coordinator (VP and above) and the front office department.
* AVP will support SCM in the development of new syndicated financing products for SMBC EMEA.
* Able to represent SCM internally and externally when required.
* Coverage will mirror the relevant Front Officer Department across multiple jurisdictions.

* The role of SCM is to originate, structure GSSS solutions, including sustainable finance frameworks and relevant ESG components.

* Main interfaces/relationships:
* Internal: Colleagues in Loan and Bond Origination, Distribution, Execution and Loan Agency, Legal, Risk Management, ESG Advisory.
* External: the Bank's Customers, Competitors, Sponsors, Debt Lenders, external advisors, ESG ratings firms.
Section 5 - Accountabilities & Responsibilities
* Attend external meetings with clients to assist in presenting financing proposals.
* Prepare team marketing materials, pitch-books and reports.
* Gather and maintain market data for team use.
* Assist in coordinating the preparation of SF information packages for syndication.
* Assist in managing SF deal syndication through the project cycle.
* Assist in SF structuring terms; in pricing and structuring terms and conditions.
* Assist in undertaking SF general marketing to potential co-financiers.
* Assist in managing the external SF syndication process.
* Share relevant SF market information with internal stakeholders.
* Undertake research on borrowers, markets and lenders.
* Prepare ad-hoc SCM reports upon request.
* Assist in preparation of sustainability comments if requested.
* Assist in drafting and reviewing SF related clauses in documentation.
* Ensure timely reporting of fees and deal pipelines.
* Attend internal meetings with front office departments.
* Contribute to SCM weekly report and to the production of SCM pitch book template.
* Maintain SF KPI database.
* Support all areas of Origination Teams with SF inquiries.
* Comply with all regulatory and internal policies and procedures.
* Participate in wider initiatives internally and externally.

* Solid understanding of sustainable finance, credit, investment and financial analysis.
* Strong knowledge of DCM and LCM products.
* Solid understanding of SF standards and regulatory frameworks.
* Thorough knowledge of main ESG rating agencies' methodologies.
* Proven business judgement and high ethical and professional standards.
* Networking skills and ability to manage transactions.
* Promotes good teamwork.
* Good relevant university degree or university degree plus relevant experience.
* Very good oral and written communication skills in English.
