Brightsmith is partnered with an exciting VC-backed nuclear energy start-up, innovating traditional power plant technology to deploy nuclear power at a quicker and cheaper rate.
They are dual UK/US headquartered and they are now looking for an Electrical Engineer to join the technical team in Edinburgh, Scotland.
The Electrical Engineer will lead the integration of High, Medium, and Low Voltage systems, ensuring safe operation from the control room. With the wider engineering team, you will develop and execute commissioning tests to support project start-up.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Understand all plant systems, their operations, and integration.
2. Collaborate with Engineering and Construction teams to resolve quality, schedule, and communication challenges.
3. Work closely with Licensing to address regulatory concerns promptly.
4. Identify risks early and implement mitigation strategies to avoid costly issues.
5. Lead special projects such as QA setup, technical troubleshooting, or drafting reports.
Qualifications:
1. Education: Bachelor’s/ Master’s in Nuclear, Electrical, or Control Systems Engineering (or related field).
2. Experience: 3+ years in engineering, with experience in plant design/construction.
3. Proficiency in tools like MATLAB/Simulink, ETAP, PSCAD.
4. Knowledge of industry codes (ANSI, IEEE, IEC, ISA, etc.).
5. Familiarity with project management software (MS Project, Primavera).
6. Certifications: PE license preferred; PMP is a plus.
