Job overview
We are looking for Consultant Cardiothoracic Anaesthetists to join our team and support the expansion in services across the Essex Cardiothoracic Centre (CTC). This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to be part of the team leading delivery of Cardiovascular, Thoracic, Cardiology and Intensive care services within this dedicated specialist centre for Essex.
You will be required to work flexibly to support cardiothoracic services across the centre and the final job plan will reflect your interests; so if you have sub-specialist interests including but not limited to Cardiac ITU, minimally invasive cardiac surgery, minimally invasive thoracic surgery, enhanced recovery, neuro-prognostication, we want to hear from you today.
Main duties of the job
* Providing evidence-based care
* Working clinically in cardiothoracic critical care
* Working collaboratively with a variety of colleagues as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Covering on-call across our cardiothoracic theatres, cardiac critical care and cardiology intervention services - so ideally you should live within 10 miles of Basildon Hospital, or 30 minutes travelling time
Developing your interests and specialisation within cardiothoracic anaesthesia and Critical Care including active participation in research programmes.

Person specification
Qualifications
* GMC registration
* Training in both general and cardiothoracic critical care, ALS or ATLS (at least Intermediate level as per RCOA curriculum)
* On Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT from the date of interview
* Training and qualifications in other medical specialty (e.g. FICM, MRCP, MRCS, FRCS)
* Membership of a national specialty organization (e.g. ACTA)
* Accreditation in perioperative TOE
Experience
* A minimum of one year of continuous experience in cardiothoracic anaesthesia and Intensive Care equivalent to advanced level training as per RCOA curriculum
* ITU experience
* Significant experience in cardiothoracic surgery as consultant
