Christchurch Music Academy is a leader in school age music education, specializing in piano and group music lessons. We provide a unique approach to music tuition which is based around “listen, sing, play, read, FUN”!
We are on the lookout for new part-time group music teachers to join us to educate our school-aged students (ages 5 - 13 years) in small groups, via our specialized piano-based, musical curriculum which is aligned with an internationally recognised music education organisation.
As well as small group teaching, additional hours are on offer to those wishing to teach piano, singing or another instrument in a one-on-one setting.
This position will be based primarily at our main school located at Barrington Shopping Centre.
Hours of work are part-time, with teaching hours available on:
* Weekday afternoons from 3.45pm
* Saturdays from 9.15am
Days of work can be flexible and can be negotiated at interview stage.
Our ideal person will have:
* Teaching/tutoring experience, experience in ECE or working with children.
* At least a basic to intermediate level of playing the piano
* A clear voice, with the ability to sing in tune
* A qualification in either music, teaching or education is advantageous as are instrument grade certificates or qualifications
* At least a basic to intermediate ability to read music
* A warm, friendly persona with the ability to relate well to children & parents.
* Demonstrated organisational skills, with the ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team
* Effective judgement skills and maturity
* Be able to work either after school or on a Saturday

As the position involves delivering classes from our specialist curriculum, our new group music teacher will be required to attend initial paid training sessions, held at our Barrington Shopping Centre studios by arrangement, and will then be supported throughout their first term of teaching.
Tertiary music students or itinerant music teachers, tertiary students with musical experience, bachelor of education students, early childhood teachers & nannies with musical knowledge are invited to apply.
