Job Title/Grade: Pre-CAS Assistant (Admissions) Grade 3
Reporting to: UKVI Compliance Administrator
Purpose of the post
To assist the UKVI Compliance Administrator with the Pre-CAS process for International applicants, enabling the University to sponsor International Students by working within key compliance metrics that relate to the LSBU Sponsor license.
MAIN ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Maintain up to date knowledge of UKVI requirements and be the key Admissions point of contact for International Applications.
2. Obtain and collate all required supporting documentation & credibility interviews in preparation for the issuing of a CAS as per the Student Route regulations and the LSBU Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) policy and ensure follow up on any missing documents.
3. Provide advice to applicants/students regarding their Student Route supporting documentation and basic immigration advice.
4. Create and maintain accurate records on the University databases and ensure all applicant documents pertaining to pre-CAS and CAS issuance are systematically filed and consistently labelled in accordance with audit responsibilities.
5. Respond to e-mails, telephone calls and assist with face-to-face enquiries in connection with UKVI compliance duties up until the student enrolls.
6. Support the Admissions team by cascading information to help advise applicants regarding their Student Route supporting documentation and provide basic immigration advice.
7. Attend compliance training sessions.
8. Participate in international students' enrolment and induction programmes.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or currently pursuing a degree in Education, International Relations, Business Administration, or a related field.
Prior experience in student services, international admissions, or administrative support is an asset.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
Familiarity with student visa processes (especially Tier 4/Student Route visas in the UK, if applicable).
Skills
1. Experience of working in a higher education institution, preferably including experience of UKVI / Student Visa Route or Home Office processes.
2. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
3. Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
4. Experience of working with international students.
5. Experience of the application of information technology in an administrative setting, including word and data processing skills and experience of using a multi-user computerised record system.
6. The capacity both to contribute to a team and to use own initiative.
7. The ability to operate flexibly and adapt to changes positively.
8. Able to demonstrate an understanding of equality and diversity, and its practical application.
