To take the lead role on the Structures Principal and General Inspection programmes, including carrying out inspections, writing reports, and overseeing the process from start to finish. Also to assist the Principal Engineers in the delivery of various structures maintenance programmes. Responsibilities • To lead on the planning, inspection and reporting of Principal/General Inspections of highway structures. This will include all aspects of the inspection process, from arranging third parties, to carrying out the inspection and entering inspection data in to Welsh Government’s Structures Management System. (Inspections could be undertaken at night, weekends or on bank holidays as and when required).Assist with Asset Inspections which may be required out outside normal office hours and in adverse weather conditions. • To assist the Principal Engineers in the delivery of structures maintenance works, both planned and reactive, and provide technical advice in relation to structures maintenance schemes. • To assist the Principal Engineers and deputise if necessary, in the management and improvement of the motorway and trunk road network in South Wales. • To assist the Principal Engineers in the development, coordination, programming and contract administration of all highway structures projects on the network to ensure compliance with the Welsh Government’s requirements. • To assist the Principal Engineer to deliver programmes of inspection, assessment, maintenance, upgrade, improvement and safety schemes. • To assist the Principal Engineers in the procurement, delivery and administration of the design and construction of structures schemes, through procured design and construction services. • To assist the Principal Engineers in the production and verification of task orders, invoices and works programmes taking into account local constraints on the network. • To assist the Principal Engineer in the preparation of information for submission to Welsh Government for use in their prioritisation and Value Management processes. • To assist the Principal Engineers in liaising with the Area Operations Teams, Network Control Centre Team and Service Providers to maintain the existing highway assets and deliver programmes of works that comply with the Welsh Government’s network occupancy strategy. • It is the responsibility of every employee within the South Wales Trunk Road Agent to comply with the Health and Safety, environmental and quality policies as defined within the SWTRA Integrated Management System. • Any other duties required in the delivery of objectives commensurate with the grading of the post.
