Quality Inspector
Location: Lincoln
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 hour days
Contract: Inside IR35
Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for routine, daily inspection of products assembled at the Bogie Service Centre, ensuring compliance with product safety standards and best practice.
Support the shop floor with defect identification, data capture, and reporting for resolution.
Accountable for ensuring the quality of our end products, ensuring right-first-time delivery through effective end-of-line inspection.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Full inspection of safety-critical materials and products to specification or other set criteria.
2. Decision making against specification to ensure no unsafe/non-compliant products are released from the facility.
3. Reporting of quality defects through the designated systems, ensuring they are sufficiently identified and recorded.
4. Perform quality investigations to identify the point of cause of a defect and report to Quality/Production to enable rework/containment.
5. Monitor compliance to meet internal control procedures and take appropriate corrective action.
6. Full adherence to safe systems and controls within your area of responsibility.
7. Accept personal responsibility to take care of oneself and others affected by one's own acts or omissions.
8. Take reasonable care to avoid acts or omissions that may have an environmental impact.
9. Reporting of any EHS concerns/events via the relevant system.
10. Understand, implement, and comply with the Siemens Rail Systems HSQE policies.
11. Support goods-in inspection and validation of new materials as required.
12. Actively encourage/support/participate in the identification and implementation of continuous improvement activities.
13. Support containment activities off-site in a professional and effective manner as required.
14. Support achievement of customer satisfaction regarding additional inspection and documentation requirements.
15. Demonstrate commercial awareness when dealing with defective materials regarding costs of non-conformance, including replenishment or rework, logistics, and inspection.
16. Engage and support all personnel as required to undertake duties effectively, building positive relationships with colleagues.
17. Suggest learning and development opportunities to develop talent and enhance capability in the team.
Knowledge & Experience:
1. Previous experience in an inspection role.
2. Previous experience in decision-making within a safety-critical environment.
3. Technical background in a mechanical/engineering environment.
4. Attention to detail, thoroughness, and precise reporting.
5. Competent with measurement equipment (callipers, micrometers, gauges).
6. Good knowledge of IT systems/software/Microsoft Office (ability to use digital reporting systems/interfaces).
7. Good communication skills, both written and oral.
8. Able to remain professional in challenging situations and prioritize quality in all scenarios.
9. Good organization/planning skills, self-motivated.
PPE will be provided when needed on site.
