Location: Office Base can be London, Cardiff, Salford, Newcastle or Glasgow. This is a hybrid role and the successful candidate will balance office working with home working.

Job Purpose
As a Business Analyst in the Technology & Media Operations team you will challenge, understand, and gather business requirements for project, product and programme delivery. Capturing and optimising business process and workflows, making sure they align with strategic objectives. Identifying business benefits for successful technical delivery across a vast portfolio of projects, products, and transformational change programmes.
Our technical products are integral to BBC production, supporting creativity, producing wonderful content for our television, radio, online and streaming applications, and our social media services. Our supply chain is everything, reviewing and improving our business data and system processes to ensure it is robust and continuously improved. Streamlining, digitising, and automating workflows where appropriate and with the right quality controls. Whilst always being on the lookout for opportunities to make the license fee go further, by consolidating systems and services, removing waste and duplication, and managing resources efficiently to deliver long term benefits for the BBC and our audiences.
You will support our organisational ambition to transform our business process and workflows. Identifying process automation opportunities to streamline and simplify our ways of working. This will ultimately improve our capability, accuracy, and timeliness of data available for strategic decision making. You can expect to work pan BBC on projects small and large, designing, deploying, optimizing, stabilizing new and existing processes with solutions across the wider business.
Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities
1. Supporting the business to identify new ways of working, innovative, adding value and eliminating inefficiencies.
2. Gathering workflow requirements to support the drive toward standardisation and design of straight-through-processing capabilities.
3. Measuring capacity, aligning to technology and business strategy. Understanding business services, through the lenses of people, cost, and controls used to run the underlying business.
4. Delivering against milestones and competing deadlines.
5. Engaging with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) across Technology, Production, Broadcast, Operations and Support Functions to document current and target state processes.
6. Identify options for potential workflow between automation solutions and assess for both technical and business suitability.
7. Working with Microsoft Platform and enterprise products to get the most out of those applications and services.
8. Working with finance teams to develop opportunities for change in processes and to challenge the status quo.
9. Research options for automation and system-based solutions within the business and wider group.
10. Perform reviews and analyses of current data and processes using operational metrics and reports to demonstrate efficiency.
Knowledge, Skills, Training & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will have:

Essential
1. Degree in Business Management, Enterprise IT, other relevant field or equivalent experience.
2. Comprehensive knowledge of business and data analysis tools and techniques such as requirements engineering, structured analysis and design, process mapping and component business modelling, and business process re-engineering.
3. Select different business analysis techniques appropriate and relevant to delivery scope drawing on applied expertise.
4. Ability to effectively manage professional relationships; listening, encouraging discussion and promoting two-way communication.
5. Thorough knowledge of project lifecycle delivery as a Business Analyst in a technical environment.
6. Develops and creates project plans and is able to clearly articulate roles, accountability, project goals, and timelines.
7. Thorough knowledge of technical product management and development methodologies, underpinned by strong software design principles.
8. Experience of a variety of project management methods, both iterative and waterfall, applied in business-to-business or business-to-consumer solutions.
9. Establish responsible deadlines and personal work plans; manages time effectively.
10. Ability to simplify complex problems, processes and projects into component parts and be able to explore them systematically.
11. Excellent planning and organisational skills; able to juggle competing priorities and take the appropriate course of action.
12. Resilience; able to take input and direction to then deliver on a task; working on own initiative.
Interview Process
Interviews will be held virtually and be held between the 23rd and 30th April. We expect them to be one stage only and the format will be a blend of BBC Value questions and Technical questions.
